Apply to Become a Grant Recipient of OHSN

Grants are awarded to Christian, non-profit organizations that will use the funds for transformational purposes, either to expand an existing program or establish a new initiative.

Please review the following criteria to ensure your nonprofit qualifies before applying for a One Hundred Shares Nashville Grant.

Qualifications

  • Grants are awarded to Christian nonprofit organizations that are committed to serving those in need and proclaiming the Gospel
  • Organization must reside in AND serve those in the greater Nashville area (within a 50 mile radius of the Tennessee State Capitol)
  • Recipients must have a 501(c)(3) IRS Tax Exempt Status for two years prior to the time of the application
  • We do not invest in ministries that are churches
  • Grant requested must not exceed half of non-profit’s current operating budget
  • Advertising/marketing costs and salaries must not exceed 20% in total of the grant request. Salaries are defined as support costs to conduct training or manage the proposed grant project.
  • Grants are not awarded for ongoing operating expenses, rent, endowments, or capital campaign funding
  • Past grant recipients may apply for a new OHSN grant after two years. For example, if your nonprofit was awarded a grant in the Spring of 2025, you can re-apply  to receive another grant in 2028.

How Are Grants Amounts Decided?

Applicants must request a grant from $25,000 to $100,000. The actual amount of the grant awarded is determined after a review of the Partner Ministry Presentations evaluations for each OHSN Grant Finalist and an impartial secret ballot vote of the OHSN Board of Trustees. The grant amounts awarded may vary from the original request.

Important Notes for Grant Applicants

  • The grant submission window is January 1 through 11:59pm on February 28. Once a grant application is submitted, the application is considered final and no revisions of any kind are permitted.
  • For the 2026 Grant Application year for grants awarded in the Fall of 2026, only the first 8 qualifying applications will be considered. Apply early!
  • Be certain your non-profit qualifies as a grant applicant (see above)
  • Remember...once a grant application is submitted, no additional documents or revisions of any kind are allowed. Start early and plan ahead to be sure you include all necessary documents and complete the application in its entirety before making your grant request submission.

Grant Process Timeline

  • Grant Applications must be submitted by 11:59 pm on February 28. For the 2026 Application Season, only the first 8 qualified applicants will be considered so apply early!
  • OHSN Board selects and notifies Grant Finalists in April.
  • Grant Finalists present their grant requests to the OHSN Partners at our Annual Coffee & Grant Review Meeting held in the Spring. Finalists have 7 minutes to provide an overview of your organization and request.
  • OHSN Board of Trustees conduct scheduled Ministry Presentations during September. These visits are limited to 45 minutes.
  • OHSN announces the Grant Recipient(s) in November at our annual Awards Ceremony
  • Funds are issued to the Grant Recipient(s). A tax receipt must be submitted to the OHSN Treasurer within 10 days of the receipt of funds.
  • Grant Recipient(s) are required to submit 2 progress reports during the award year to the OHSN Grant Chairwoman, on March 1 and August 1.
  • Grant Recipient(s) will deliver a presentation on the impact the OHSN grant made within the organization and the people you serve at our Annual Awards Ceremony the year following your award.

Why Didn't We Receive a Grant?

The number of grant requests we receive each year exceeds our planned giving which means not all grant requests can be awarded.

Please know that OHSN prayerfully and impartially reviews all applications before the finalists are selected and the annual grant money is ultimately awarded.

We encourage you to re-apply during a future Grant Season if you did not receive a grant in a particular year, but keep in mind these two common reasons why a grant request could not be considered:

  • the grant application was incomplete and/or
  • the nonprofit did not meet the OHSN criteria

When Can We Apply Again?

If you DID NOT receive a grant, you can apply again the next year. Remember to start well before the grant deadline date to prepare your grant application and gather all required documentation to submit on or before the grant application deadline.

If your nonprofit DID receive a grant, you can re-apply for a new grant after waiting two years.  For example, if your nonprofit was awarded a grant in 2025, you can re-apply  to receive another grant in 2028.
